Here’s a photo of me with Chapman senior Chris Reid. Chris is the first-ever runner from Chapman to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. With temperature below freezing in Wisconsin, Chris broke his own school record on the 8k course with a time of 25:54:10. Those of you who’ve ran the Chapman-Toyota of Orange 5K know that a time anywhere near 25 minutes is excellent. Just think ……. Chris covered 8k around that time. Not only Chris is a great runner, he’s also a terrific student double majoring in screenwriting and philosophy. Great going Chris! We’re proud of you.

At the Women of Chapman's beautiful annual event, "Christmas at the Ritz" in Newport Beach on December 10 -- where Santa was the guest of honor (and listened to everyone's holiday wishes) and many of our top Chapman supporters gathered to kick off the holiday season! Proceeds from this event go to support the Women of Chapman's many campus priorities, including Musco Center for the Arts, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, and our new, under-construction Center for Science and Technology. So good to see so many friends in their most festive attire!

Hi ChapmanUFamily! My name is Zach Resnick and I am so stoked to be taking over the account this week! I chose to share this photo with you all because this was taken during my first week at Chapman as a freshman, Fall 2012. Today, I begin my last first week of school as a senior Communication Studies major, Spring 2016. It's hard to believe that I could be on the way out when it feels like this photo was taken just yesterday. I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the past 4 years and letting you in on what my time here has meant to me #mylifeatcu #chapmanu

Students at Chapman’s Harry and Diane Rinker Health Science Campus had better beware: to a meandering zombie, these large canvases might appear quite delectable! Peter Kogler is an Austrian artist who receives his artistic inspiration primarily from science and technology, uniting two very different schools of thought in a single form of expression. Specifically in his pieces Brain CA (Green) and Brain CA (Pink), one can see how Kogler’s fascination with the texture, shape, and depth of a human brain was translated into two hypnotic depictions. #PeterKogler #Kogler #art #contemporaryart #fineart #brain #brains #brainca(pink) #eerie #eerieart #creepy #ChapmanU #chapmanart #EscaletteCollection #scienceandart

"Expressionism was an extremely important movement because it worked to change the purpose and standards of art for the rest of art history. Rather than trying to accurately represent the world, as artists had been doing since the Renaissance, Expressionist artists sought to express their subjective inner emotions, fantasies, or thoughts independent from “reality”. In this way, Expressionism can be seen as a rejection of the Impressionism movement that came before it and a precursor to Abstract art." -Jessica Bocinski, Chapman Student Read more here: https://blogs.chapman.edu/collections/2016/03/28/expressionism/ Marc Chagall "Vision of Paris" Lithograph, 1952 #expressionism #marcchagall #expressionist #expressionistart #arthistory #fineart #modernart #lithography #paris #chapmanu #chapmanuniversity #escalettecollection

Attention, Los Angeles alumni and Clippers fans! We're planning Chapman Meet Up events for the coming months and we want to gauge your interest in attending a Clippers game on Saturday, December 6 or Saturday, December 13 with fellow Chapman alumni. If this is something you'd be interested in attending, let us know in the comments. Or if you have suggestions and ideas for other Chapman Meet Ups (either here in Southern California or in your area of the country), share them as well!

Here I am with the great author and popular Chapman prof, Richard Bausch, presenting his novel, “Peace,” to Jessie Gross. Jessie was in town trying to decide between attending Chapman and Tulane this coming fall. Since she is interested in majoring in creative writing, I connected her with Professor Bausch. I am pleased to announce that Jessie decided on Chapman. She’ll be a great addition to our university. By the way, my summer book recommendation will be out soon. One of the recommendation is “Peace.” Professor Bausch based the story on an actual incident during WWII experienced by his father. A great read! JLD
