Grace Lee Boggs once wrote, "You cannot change any society unless you take responsibility for it, unless you see yourself as belonging to it and responsible for changing it." This spring, I had the privilege of attending Chapman's annual Social Justice Retreat. Every moment was a shattering epiphany. I experienced the power of an individual in action. I saw passion. I saw hope. I saw belief in the eyes of young hearts. Through this experience, I found that to change the world, we need not to turn away from it, but to face it with wide eyes and courageous hearts. There is injustice, yes. There are moments of pain and weakness. But we need not be discouraged, for it's a chance to be a change for a changing world. Justin Bieber was supposed to be the ChapmanUFamily Instagram host this week to promote his new album #Purpose...but he dropped out at the last minute and now you have me (Beliebers I'm sorry for the letdown)! My name's Gregory Bordelon and as a graduating senior, I've had the opportunity to experience so much at Chapman University. For example, in the photo above I was able to channel James Bond while also orienting new students through our Fall Orientation program #dynamic. I'll be graduating this January with a BFA in Television Writing & Production and a minor in English Literature. I plan on working within the entertainment industry as an actor and writer for new age content! But enough about me, stay tuned this week as you see more... me, but with more Chapman. One of the best parts of my Chapman Experience has been the connections I have made and organizations that I have had the opportunity to work with. This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Dallas CASA. CASA works to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system. An amazing part of my internship was that I got to work with student’s from TCU, Kansas University, and Baylor. It was great to share my Chapman experience with others and learn about their college experiences. In addition, I’ve had two local internships that have enhanced my Chapman experience. One with the local CASA chapter and one with Krochet Kids in Costa Mesa. Both have provided me with so much experience and personal growth. I wouldn’t have had these amazing experience’s with out Chapman!

A big part of my Chapman life and most of my best memories were with these guys, the men of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity (@chapmanphikappatau) Going greek was one of the best decisions I couldve ever made at Chapman. As a freshman I knew nothing about fraternity life, and one fine day I met these gentlemen and everything changed. It was here that I found immense personal growth because my brothers trusted and believed in me. I learned new things about myself like my passion for leadership and philanthropy, and I tapped into potential that I didnt even know I had.
