Words of a Student: Lauren Kirwan '17 "I would like to say thank you to all of the donors who give to our school because I know that I would not have been able to transfer to Chapman University had I not been offered my Trustees Scholarship. As a student ambassador and student worker, I have gotten to see firsthand how dedicated and enthusiastic our donors are at Chapman University, and I just want to send a big thank you to every single one of you for believing in students like me. Donations truly do make a difference and play a huge role at a private university like Chapman University." Thank you for contributing to the one-of-a-kind learning experience I've received here at Chapman. With our talented faculty and state of the art facilities, I have grown immensely both as an individual and as a contributing member to society. WORDS OF A STUDENT: Maile Grace ’17 “Being born and raised in Hawaii, attending college on the 'mainland' was something I always dreamed about doing. I remember how disheartened I was when I learned that I’d most likely have to stay home, due to the price of tuition, airfare and overall living expenses. My situation drastically changed for the better when I received an enormous grant as well as the Dean’s Merit Scholarship from Chapman University. If it weren’t for the generosity of Chapman’s donors and trustees, I would not be where I am today. Thanks to your support, I’m able to further my education overseas at such a prestigious university. After I graduate, I plan on returning to Hawaii and empowering and educating disadvantaged Hawaiian children. Your contributions and sacrifices are truly making a difference in so many students’ lives. Thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me.” Maile Grace '17 Majors: Integrated Educational Studies and Strategic and Corporate Communications Hometown: Pearl City, O’ahu (HI) These words of appreciation were volunteered by Chapman student, Maile Grace. WORDS OF A STUDENT: Loren Lee Diaz '11 (MBA '17) "Chapman University's gracious donor support has gifted me with a one-of-a-kind education and shaped my career. My semester abroad was only the start of my career in international education; I later assisted the Center for Global Education as a student worker and now work there full-time helping Chapman students become global citizens. Without the support of scholarships, I would have never imagined leaving Orange which would have also never introduced me to the career I have today. Thank you for your kindness in providing a bright and adventurous future to myself and to the Chapman community!" Chapman University - Marriage & Family Therapy Program
June 19, 2015
Meet Kelly Scribner, MA (Class of 2015) and here about her experience in the MFT Program and Frances Smith Center at Chapman University . . . "As a recent graduate, I can only describe my experience at Chapman and the clinic as exciting and surreal. It is still hard to believe that for the past year I had the experience of being a therapist working with real people with real concerns. Through this program I not only learned various theories, case conceptualization strategies, diagnosis, and treatment planning; but I also had the opportunity to learn about myself. The MFT program was unique in teaching how to apply course material with theoretical application, as well as to everyday life. Thanks to Chapman, I now have a better understanding of who I am and how my past, as well as my present, has influenced me. Since high school, I have always known that I wanted to work as an MFT (specifically dealing with couples and romantic relationships) but thanks to Chapman’s program, I was able to not only realize my full potential but everything I could do with an MFT license! I had no idea how expansive the field was for MFTs. I am happy to say that because of my experience at Chapman, I have accepted my first internship with Matrix Institute, working within a substance abuse population. I could not be more excited for this opportunity or feel more prepared!"

Words of a Student: Michelle Voronel '19 "Chapman University has not only given me the ideal college environment that I have been dreaming about since my youth, but it has also been providing me with an individualized education that I have sought after since high school. Even though I am only in my sophomore year, I have been fortunate to have found a strong community of students and friends from whom I learn new things every day, and that is something I believe is exclusive to Chapman University. I have never been happier, and I look forward to all of the classes, my semester abroad, future internships, and graduating with a strong sense of self and what I want to accomplish in the world.” Michelle Voronel '19 Majors: Economics and business administration Hometown: Irvine, CA These words of appreciation were volunteered by Michelle Voronel. My attendance was made possible due to the generous scholarships awarded to me. My experience at Chapman has been truly amazing. Coming to college as a freshman or a transfer can be scary, specially if you don't know anyone and/or are new to the area. That's why orientation week is SUPER important, and in my humble opinion, Chapman puts on the BEST orientation week for new students. 🎓 Honestly, being an Orientation Leader has been a major highlight of my Chapman career. I did it for 3 years and have met the most incredible group of people that helped me grow in so many ways into the person I am today. 🙏🏻 and to be honest, O-Week is a huge PARTY. 🎉 I love being able to show the new students around our beautiful campus, dance and go crazy with them at Playfair and at UPB nights, and just sharing a meal and getting to know the new Panthers is such an amazing experience. I mean, as an Orientation Leader I am the first face they meet at Chapman, and being able to welcome them to their new home for the next 4 years is an honor and so. much. fun. 🐾🎉👌🏼🔑 Stay tuned for tomorrow I will go more in depth why coming to Chapman and being welcomed has meant so much to me personally. #ChapmanU #CaptureCU #MylifeatCU

Chapman University's Office of the President

I visited a very special future Chapman student at CHOC Hospital recently. His name is Kamron Sohrabian who is battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’s already been through several tough rounds of chemo. One of Kamron’s teachers at Beckman High School, Dr. Darin Hallstrom, recently sent me a copy of an email that he sent to the rest of the faculty at Beckman High. It included the following: “Life works in mysterious ways. As fate would have it, he was accepted to his dream school – Chapman – the same day that he was diagnosed.” I understand that Kamron is an exceptional student who was accepted at the leading universities around the country, but Chapman was always his first pick. When I met Kamron in the hospital, he greeted me with a warm smile. In spite of all that he is going through in his brave battle, this special young man told me how anxious he is to start Chapman this coming August. I responded by telling him that our entire community looks forward to welcoming him to our community and greeting him warmly. If there are any Chapman faculty or students who would like to visit Kamron, let me know and I will forward your names to his Mom and Dad. Or if you’d like to email a note to Kamron, you can do so through his father at babak128@yahoo.com. I know Kamron would enjoy hearing from you. Meantime, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. WORDS OF A STUDENT: Robert Heins '18 "Being the recipient of multiple scholarships from Chapman University, I can personally attest to the impact that donors have on students. Without the generous scholarships Chapman was able to provide me, I would never have been granted as many opportunities such as an incredible internship, having relationships with my professors, participating in the spring research fair, and being a part of one club and working to start another. The different opportunities students have here is what makes Chapman University such an incredible university, and with the drive of students and the support of donors, the University will continue to flourish."
