One of the best opportunities I've had at Chapman is working my on campus job as a Guest Relations Coordinator in the Department of Student Engagement. Part of my job is coordinating and installing the art in the three Student Union Art Galleries which change every month and feature student art and on campus groups. Pictured is me with Dean Price after the installation of the first I AM CHAPMAN photo campaign of the year. Glad this campaign has been such a success and thanks to everyone that has participated!

One of my favorite things is the opportunity I get to serve among all of these amazing women on the @chapman_panhellenic council! They all inspire me to be better everyday and make our Greek community so special. As Vice President of Programming, I run all of Panhellenic's events. Including this weeks Greek Week! We have so many fun events going on for the Greek community this week! Yesterday, over 150 Greek members participated in ChapMan's Walk Against Violence! Today we collected over 1,000 items to donate to the Vietnam Veteran's of America! Next up, the Relay Event tonight at 6 in the Piazza!

This image is taken from Teraoka’s series “31 Flavors Invading Japan.” Although Teraoka paints with beautiful balance and precision, the underlying commentary is of sexual tension and destructive consumerism. Here, the cone is labeled with the Japanese character for “dare,” which means “who” or “whose”. When coupled with the fact that “drip” is also pronounced as “dare” in Japanese, one starts to unfold the layers of meaning and hidden power struggle. Sueo Serisawa was a Japanese American artist who was active during and after WWII. He became one of the premier California Scene painters. “Nine O’Clock News” is a still life that characterizes Sueo’s style. Influenced by Impressionism and Modernism, his paintings often have a vaporous look that evoke a feeling of calmness. This particular work is interesting in this regard, as it’s quiet and peaceful appearance is contrasted by the fact that the clock and newspaper symbolize the announcement of the invasion of Poland. The Holidays may be over, but winter is just getting started, so we'd like to share this piece by artist Todd Hebert with you. Hebert's art can be described as a contemporary take on the classic still life. Choosing everyday objects as his subjects, Hebert paints with amazing accuracy, sometimes with photographic realism. Yet this sharpness is often put in contrast with large unfocused, blurry areas or objects. The results can range from playful to just plain eccentric, but always demonstrate Hebert's artistic skill.
