Chapman Folks and Friends: On Wednesday June 17th, 2015 during a prayer meeting inside a historic black church in Charleston, SC, nine people were fatally shot. In response to the senseless act of hate that occurred in Charleston, the Chapman University Cross-Cultural Initiative and Fish Interfaith Center invite you to the Student Union Fireplace on Friday June 19th at 2pm for a conversation followed by a vigil for those affected by the shooting that occurred. "Any death of this sort is a tragedy. Any shooting involving multiple victims is a tragedy. There is something particularly heartbreaking about death happening in a place in which we seek solace, we seek peace." -President Obama

Today I learned that Don Jarman '50 died in Beaverton, OR after a long illness. Don was named one of the 150 faces of Chapman in 2011. He and his wife Sharon are Chapman Legacy Society members, supporting the school through their estate. But today I am most grateful for the work Don did as interim of closing South Gate Christian Church. Quarterly we receive a check somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500 for DOC scholarships -- a legacy Don helped them create. He served the Disciples faithfully. Well done, good and faithful servant. If you wish to send Sharon a card, message me for the address.

Hey Panthers! Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! My name is Laura Claypool, and I am pursuing a B.A. in PR&Ad, with a minor in Digital Imaging and Design. I'm from Bellevue, WA and just finished my freshman year at Chapman! I love being busy and couldn't wait to get involved on campus, so I quickly joined several organizations including Colleges Against Cancer, University Program Board, and Greek life. Can't wait to show y'all some highlights from #MyLifeAtCU! ~Laura Claypool '19 #ChapmanU #pantherpride

Students at Chapman teamed up with students from three other universities to create a beautiful and eco-friendly house as a part of the Solar Decathlon. Named Casa Del Sol, its design was inspired by our state flower- the Golden Poppy. You can view the house, along with others in the competition, at the Orange County Great Park, and you can support our students by voting for their design as your favorite at http://energy.gov/vote-your-favorite-solar-decathlon-house #gogreen #greentech #beautifultech #design #greendesign #ocliving #solarenergy #ChapmanU #orangecounty #studentsarethefuture #scienceandart
