My absolute favorite thing about Chapman is the Leadership Studies minor. I have learned so much about myself and how to interact with others through it. The people in the program are all amazing individuals and the faculty is phenomenal. I love it so much that I am applying to Chapman's master's program in Leadership Development! The pictures above are from the two retreats that the LEAD students go on as a part of class - one is to a ropes course and the other is to a Zen mountain center.

Happy Presidents Day! Moyra Davey Copperhead No. 92 C-Print, 1990 Acquisition purchase Moyra Davey is an artist who works primarily in photography. Her work seeks out the hidden and sometimes forlorn beauty in the everyday objects that we often encounter without a second glance. The close-up composition here focuses on the wear and marks accumulated on the penny’s surface over time. Captured in a photograph, these vestiges of human interaction invite us to examine an object that would otherwise go overlooked. #fineart #contemporaryart #photgraphy #presidentsday #pennyforyourthoughts #abelincoln #abrahamlincoln #chapmanu #chapmanuniversity #escalettecollection #cprint #photoart

Jeff Russell's tongue-in-cheek and delightfully macabre depiction of a two-tiered coffin comes alive in his piece, "Plan for My Coffin with Extra One Tied Underneath to Contain Art Critic." Russell enjoys playing with depicting "confinement," in drawing and painting various cages and coffins, which is particularly fascinating because art is considered such a non-confining form of expression. Regardless, we at Escalette will refrain from providing any sort of criticism of our Russell piece, lest we become the inhabitants of his clever coffin design? #JeffRussell #jeff #contemporary #scaryart #halloween #contemporaryart #coffin #chapmanu #chapmanuniversity #escalettecollection #art #artcritics #beware

Bet (ב) is for blessing (ברכה). The recitation of blessings is an important aspect of the Jewish faith, and it is a key part of the Hanukkah celebration. Before each candle is lit, different blessings are recited to praise God and demonstrate the faithful’s sense of dutiful obligation. They express wonder at how blessed God is. During Hanukkah, blessings are usually sung together by family and friends gathered around the hanukkiah Michael Hafftka Bet Watercolor on paper, 2007 Gift of the artist #michaelhafftka #hanukkah #jewishart #happyhanukkah #chanukkah #fineart #instaart #contemporaryart #watercolor #chapmanuniversity #chapmanu #escalettecollection

To celebrate National Native American Heritage Month, we're featuring this beautiful artistic interpretation of a cradleboard, which is on display in the Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives. This piece is after the style of the Kanien'keha:ka (known more commonly in English as the Mohawk), but many different Native American peoples used cradleboard of varying styles as a way of carrying their babies.
