Meet Linda Karmelich, MA, LMFT, Clinical Supervisor/Adjunct Faculty in the Marriage & Family Therapy Program at Chapman University . . . "I feel so fortunate to have found a career that is so rewarding, one that I continue to feel such passion and excitement for every day. I graduated from Chapman University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s Degree Program in 1999, after a long career as a dental hygienist. My work experience as a therapist has primarily been here at Chapman University. I interned at Chapman in the Student Psychological Counseling Services, got hired on full time, and have been here ever since! My journey to this point included starting a nonprofit Community Wellness Center here in Orange with some of my college colleagues after graduation. Our mission was to give back to the community. We wanted to provide low cost counseling, which is very similar to the Frances Smith Clinic, where we were trainees. In fact, “the” Dr. Frances Smith was my mentor and supervisor during the days of being an intern. The wellness center lasted for about six years. Since, I have built a private practice, work as a therapist in the Student Psychological Counseling Services, and I’m proud to say, a clinical supervisor in the MFT program. As a clinical supervisor I get to mentor, train and learn from so many new therapists in the program who remind me all the time what rewarding work it is we do as therapists. I also belong to several professional organizations, including CAMFT, AAMFT and IAEDP."
