WORDS OF A STUDENT: Sohini Mukherjee '16 "I wish I could personally thank all of the donors who have contributed to Chapman, because each and every one of them has impacted my life for the better. As an international student, I could only dream of coming to a school like Chapman, and because of your generosity, I was awarded scholarships that allowed me to do so. Furthermore, I found research opportunities that have encouraged me to follow my goals and pursue a career in public health, in order to create change and help others. Thank you again for allowing me to find my passion, and for inspiring me to do well in the world." Sohini Mukherjee '19 Major: English literature and psychology, and economics minor Hometown: Kolkata, India These words of appreciation were volunteered by Sohini Mukherjee. Chapman University - Marriage & Family Therapy Program
June 1, 2015
Meet Christy Zail Cotton (Class of 2008) and here about her experience in the MFT Program and Frances Smith Center at Chapman University . . . "Attending Chapman’s MFT program was a wonderful experience that helped prepare me greatly for my career as a marriage and family therapist. One of the most valuable learning experiences was the opportunity to see clients through Chapman's on-site community clinic. Through the clinic, I was able to take my training and education and put it into practice, while receiving amazing support from very skilled and knowledgeable staff. While I was in the graduate program, I had the opportunity to conduct research as a teaching assistant with a psychology professor. We explored the relationship between gender, stress, and coping strategies among college students. The research was later published and we then developed a workshop for incoming college students and their parents based on the findings. As a therapist in my private practice, I use many of the skills that I learned in Chapman’s graduate program. I am also able to use the knowledge that I gained through my research opportunity as I work with college students and help them cope with various stressors that arise through the college experience."

WORDS OF A RECENT GRADUATE: Melissa Lewis '15 "As my time at Chapman came to an end, I began to fully realize just how much the donors of Chapman impacted my college experience. For starters, I wouldn’t have even been able to attend Chapman without the generous academic scholarship I received. In the past four years I have had the opportunity to study abroad in Prague, become a member of a sorority and multiple honor societies, form many lifetime friendships and take part in a travel course to Vietnam. I feel confident that these experiences, combined with the knowledge I have gained through my engaging courses, have prepared me for my next chapter in life. I could not be more grateful for the donors who made it possible for me to attend such a unique University, and I look forward to the day that I can do the same for a future student." Melissa Lewis '15 Majors: Business administration, emphasis in international business and management Hometown: Coronado, CA These words of appreciation were volunteered by Melissa Lewis.
