"Throughout my four years at Chapman, I have come to learn that although money plays a major role in academics, it is the donors, tutors, teachers, advisors, friends, family and ultimately God, that have pushed me forward." -mathematics major Taulau Tupua '16

The results showed 10 of the 48 samples were mislabeled—and that nine of the 10 mislabeled samples contained addition…

Repost @jaywithlove #music #vocalist #sing #opera ・・・ The day I took this picture was with my best friend @_dagosto . We were here for the audition of a lifetime. I guess I'll share my story here. If you told me I was going to go @chapmanu to be part of the @chapmancopa I would have never believed you. I have all my gifts to thank Jeanette McMahon. She had faith in me and is the angel that guided me to audition here ever since my sophomore year. I first came here to witness Andrea Flores perform many pieces. Her voice was flawless and beautiful and I could have only imagined having a voice like that. I got to eat breakfast with Efrain Solis, an opera star on the rise that had his education from Chapman. All these people under Ms. Mac's wing and I hopefully get to be the next success story to graduate from Chapman. I've been through many bumps from my dad leaving, my mom getting sick, and to almost having my house on foreclosure. But my voice has always got me to sing my feelings away. Music has got me to meet people that inspire me, inspire people with my voice to the point of tears, and to be the happiest I can be performing on a stage. #mytopcollege is Chapman because of the beautiful message they have within the Berlin Wall. Although the Berlin Wall was placed in a troubling area that separated loved ones it became a reason as to why we should never go back to a time so dark and strengthen the concept of unity. I feel I am that piece of the Berlin Wall I come from a troubling background, but I know as I officially place my foot with others on that Chapman campus as an official freshman we will be united with a common cause to make the world better. My troubled background will turn into an inspiration for others to reflect on and see how much I have grown. I want everyone to know if you work, specialize in your art, and have the drive to set aside your doubts to achieve your dreams. You too can get the biggest gift ever. That biggest gift is a chance (also music). A chance to achieve whatever you can. I'm glad I got my chance to be a music education major ( hopefully a double in opera ) at @chapmanu .

WORDS OF A STUDENT: Malia Galindo '16 "I never thought writing a thank you would be so difficult. There are so many things I want you to know about and how your donations have completely changed my life. I guess what I really need to start with is Thank You. I would never have grown or been as successful as I am now without your help. I come from the tiny island of Oahu in Hawaii and as much as I love my home and the people there, at some point you feel trapped. There's only so much you can do, and you eventually use up your resources. Before coming to Chapman, I was at this point in my life where I wasn't really sure I had a goal of where I wanted to be or what I wanted to do. My dad attended Chapman and I always felt that maybe one day I'd be able to go, but the reality of cost was a huge obstacle. Chapman has quickly grown into a prominent school, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to find myself and continue my education in a place I feel is best suited for me. Without your donations and support, I never would have been able to even think about coming here. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me discover more of the world and myself." Malia Galindo '16 Major: Sociology Hometown: Kailua, Hawaii These words of appreciation were volunteered by Malia Galindo. If you would like to help fund a scholarship for a grateful student or otherwise support the mission of Chapman University, contact David B. Moore at (714) 516-4590 or dmoore@chapman.edu.

Raffle Donations Needed! Chapman University’s Chapman Ability Project, in collaboration with the Family Autism Network, California State University-Fullerton, and the University of California-Irvine, is hosting a Social for Young Adults and Adults with Autism and Their Caregivers on April 26, 2015. This social event provides an opportunity for young adults and adults with autism to have a free and fun afternoon with college students in their community. It also allows their caregivers an opportunity to relax and connect with others. Chapman University is proud to hold this event in April as part of the College of Educational Studies’ (CES) Autism Awareness activities. Student volunteers from CES’ Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) and Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) programs are working hard to make this event a huge success. As one of the event activities we will hold a free raffle drawing for the all of the guests and caregivers. This has become an exciting and fun part of each social event. We would appreciate your participation and support as we collect prize donations, small and large, to be part of our drawing. All donors will be listed on signage at the event and publicly thanked on our Chapman Ability Project and College of Educational Studies webpages. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeanne Anne Carriere, Chapman Ability Project Director, at 714-628-2842. I hope that you will consider making a prize donation that we can include in our drawing! Thank you for considering how you can help contribute to a meaningful, relaxing and fun day for people in our community living with autism.
