Our Associate Director, Susan Jester, LMFT, checked out the last trainee this morning from one of our graduating cohorts. Today we will also welcome a new cohort into the clinic. Change is upon us once again. Over the course of a year that students spend completing their hours in the clinic, they become family. Chapman is a place where they can always return. As Susan always tells them, "It's not goodbye, it's see you soon!"

Help us congratulate CES senior Caitlyn Nguyen who was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Vietnam. Caitlyn will teach English and U.S. culture to Vietnamese students during the 2017-2018 school year. She is also a member of Chapman University’s Honors Program. This is the second consecutive year that an IES graduate has received a Fulbright! Alumna Ashley Barba is currently teaching in the Czech Republic.

There will be a FREE pre-release screening TONIGHT for Chapman Theatre alumna Leah McKendrick's film "M.F.A." at 7pm in Folino Theater! (Located in the Marion Knott Studios building on the corner of Cypress and Palm). Leah, who not only wrote the screenplay, but also produced and acted in the film, will be on hand for what will undoubtedly be an exciting and informative Q&A session!

Last weekend, senior environmental science and policy major Haley Miller and #ChapmanU research associate Glenn Woerndle helped OC Girl Scouts earn their Woman in Science and Nature badges. Miller and Woerndle-- both members of Prof. Jason Keller's Wetland Biogeochemistry Lab (#swampmonsters)-- were invited to present a hands-on activity teaching the scouts how water quality effects wildlife at Seal Beach Wildlife Refuge. Four troops of OC girl scouts and their parents attended the event.

It's hard not to type this post without trying to "sell" Chapman. So, I've decided to not focus on the best parts of my job as a campus tour guide, but instead focus on the people who are a part of it. My first day of work was the first day of my freshman year. It was incredibly nerve wracking to walk into an office of Chapman "experts" when I had just started my enrollment. I felt like a car salesmen without a drivers license. The first thing I did was sit down at an empty chair, and wait till someone noticed me there. A voice from behind asked, "are you Gregory?" I turned to, now alumni, @jefftopolski had already heard my name before I walked in and had assumed it was me. From that moment forward I was absorbed into a group of eclectic, driven, successful individuals who mentored me and showed what it was to represent a university like Chapman. This included: countless laughs, many lessons learned and conversations about life and the ups and downs of it. Not everyone can say that their job is their favorite part of their day, but for me, this office has been my constant at Chapman. The people here have become my best friends and closest confidants. So I guess I lied. I did talk about my favorite part about this job...it's the people.
