Had a great lunch and visit with alum and founding chair of Chapman50, Sinan Kanatsiz. It started with a tour of Sinan and Kai’s incredible home that command a spectacular view of the mountains and San Clemente Beach. I met Sinan and Kai’s dogs Como (name comes from Lake Como) and Domstal (name comes from mix of Dom Perignon and Cristal Champagne). As you can see from the photo, the dogs and I really hit it off. We followed the tour and dog play with a great lunch at “South of Nicks”. The ceviche is to die for. See photo! The topper was ending the visit at Rainbow Sandals where Sinan made sure that Lynne, Cara and I all had a memento of San Clemente charm. See photo! Mixed in with all the fun was some brainstorming in the future of Chapman50 – an alumni organization comprised of the future leaders of our university. Hard to believe that the idea for Chapman50 started about a year ago when Sinan and I had lunch at Marché Moderne. JLD

WORDS OF A STUDENT: Taulau Tupua '16 "Thank you, donors, for providing the necessary funds for me to achieve my dreams. My father always taught my siblings and me that when you do your best, God will do the rest. Throughout my four years at Chapman, I have come to learn that although money plays a major role in academics, it is the donors, tutors, teachers, advisors, friends, family and ultimately God, that have pushed me forward. Although my endeavors are not simple to complete, I am determined to work hard every step of the way. I only hope that God will bless me with the third college degree of my family, as well as bless all of my supporters. " Taulau Tupua '16 Majors: Mathematics Hometown: Modesto, CA These words of appreciation were volunteered by Taulau Tupua. The Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music
April 21, 2015
This Friday through Sunday, Opera Chapman students and The Chapman Orchestra collaborate in a re-imagined production of Donizetti's "The Elixir of Love (L’elisir d’amore)" on the Chapman Auditorium stage. Set in the 'Orange Nugget Casino' in 1958, Nemorino, a simple bellhop, has fallen in love with a beautiful starlet, Adina, and is eager to win her heart. When a traveling salesman arrives peddling tonics and cure-alls, Nemorino immediately sets his plan into action and purchases a magic potion (in reality, only cheap bourbon) which will help him win Adina's love. Encouraged by the elixir, Nemorino tries to express his feelings to Adina while trying to thwart a marriage proposal from Belcore, a handsome yet egotistical soldier. Accompanied by a 40+ piece orchestra and bringing together glitzy sets, sumptuous costumes and vibrant choreography, this wildly popular comic gem is sure to intoxicate and entice audiences. THREE PERFORMANCES ONLY - Friday, April 24 at 7:30pm, Saturday, April 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 26 at 3pm! Visit http://www.chapman.edu/tickets for more info

Chapman University - Marriage & Family Therapy Program
May 16, 2016
Meet Logan Stiles (Class of 2016) and hear about his experience in the MFT program at Chapman University . . . "Attending Chapman University’s Master’s program for Marriage and Family Therapy has been a wonderful experience. As a result of the curriculum, I have been exposed to important research and a variety of skills that have shaped my work as a therapist. One of the most helpful aspects of the program was the time I spent in the Frances Smith Center for Individual and Family Therapy. The clinic allowed me to put my knowledge into practice and exposed me to a diversity of individuals, couples, and families with a broad range of personal and relational difficulties. Throughout the process, professors and supervisors provided encouragement and guidance. My passion has always been working with couples. This program has provided advanced training opportunities and promoted the acquisition of certifications related to my interest in couple therapy. These experiences and trainings have improved my confidence and effectiveness in working with this population. As I continue in the field, I feel the loving support of Chapman’s community of colleagues and friends."

Happy Monday, Panthers, families, and friends! My name is Lijah Vann Gardner and I'll be running this account for the week! I'm a senior (class of 2016), but not for much longer because I'll be joining the ranks of alumni by the end of the week...! Can't believe the last four years have happened so fast! I'm a biological sciences major and minor in psychology. I have been fortunate enough to have met such a diverse group of people through the different campus groups I interact with on a regular basis. To help me achieve my goal of a career in medicine, I have involved myself in Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honors Society, American Medical Student Association, Global Medical Brigades, and on-campus student/faculty research. To balance my academic career with a social life, where all members are grounded in similar values, I thank Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. I also am able to serve my community regularly by being a member of Chapman C.A.R.E.S.(Creating A Rape-free Environment for Students). Here I'm able to help plan and run events centered in sexual assault prevention and educate student groups on this topic. I have been so fortunate to have chosen Chapman and I'm reminded of that every single day! Looking forward to sharing my experience with you this week! -Lijah #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #CaptureCU #PantherPride #cuonelasttime

WORDS OF A STUDENT: Gregory Bordelon '15 "What no one can tell you about Chapman is how ever-changing it really is. From the outside, one can see new buildings, hear of new programs to attend, or meet esteemed faculty who are flocking from all across the globe to the nestled town of Orange, Calif. Being a student here has shed light that this change is something not to just be seen, but felt. I’ve felt the pride of being a student here and I am proud of all the things I’ve done and the people I’ve met. To invest your time and energy here isn’t really just for you or for one particular student, it’s an investment in a more prepared and accepting future of people." WORDS OF A STUDENT: Kameron Backstrom '17 "Chapman's donors have such an impact on my life especially at Dodge because of all the opportunities Dodge College offers. Being a news and documentary major and being able to use half a million dollars worth of industry-standard equipment has been a dream come true. Without the generous donations, I wouldn't have been able to go to New York with Pete Weitzner on the Networking in New York trip, which was literally a life-changing experience. I got to know 24 amazing people and go to every major network station, including ESPN, The Daily Show and CNN to name a few. I want to personally thank everyone who donates to such an amazing school. Know that your money goes to some extraordinary causes." Kameron Backstrom '17 Major: News and documentary Hometown: Fullerton, CA These words of appreciation were volunteered by Kameron Backstrom. Chapman MBA
May 12, 2017
Student Feature: Venice Gell, Integrated 4+1 MBA, Class of 2017 My name is Venice Gell and I will be graduating from the 4+1 MBA Program with an emphasis in Marketing. My favorite aspect of the 4+1 MBA Program is that it gave me the opportunity to begin my MBA courses the spring semester of my senior year as an undergraduate student at Chapman. I graduated from Chapman University with a dual degree: B.S. in Business Administration – International Business Emphasis and B.A. in French. The skills and connections that I have gained through the Chapman MBA Program will prove to be invaluable in helping achieve my career goals. Throughout my MBA program, I have worked as the Graduate Assistant for the Graduate Business Programs. I managed the programs’ social media marketing platforms, including their Instagram, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, and website pages. Concurrently, I joined the TEDx Mission Viejo team this past fall as an Event Planner, Social Media Assistant, and Assistant Producer.
