Leatherby Libraries at Chapman University
May 19, 2016
Maybe you'd prefer to watch movies this summer instead of read books? The list from Chapman University's Office of the President has you covered. President Doti recommends PHILOMENA as a worthwhile watch: "Another film starring Steve Coogan but definitely not a comedy is Philomena. This drama, based on the book written by journalist Martin Sixsmith, also stars Dame Judi Dench. It tells the story of a woman’s search for her illegitimate son, who was forcibly taken away from her by the convent where her father placed her." Available now in the Crean Library of Film and Television on the third floor (along with many other enjoyable films!)

#TBT to 2014 when chemistry and physics alumnus Dara Hok '16 spent his summer at #ChapmanU researching the application of gravitational potential onto the Schrodinger equation. “The ten-week research-intensive program is like a small snippet of what graduate life entails... It gives you a good sense of [whether or not] this is the type of career you’d like to pursue because it provides an accurate picture of graduate life and research.” Soon Dara will be leaving to Stanford University where he'll begin doctoral studies.

My team and I are known as the "Fun Team." Why? We oversee everything from nation-wide holiday parties (hence the ugly sweater) and community partnerships to recognition programs and internal communications. This week's been a busy one but, of course, a fun one! You might know Allegiant as an airline but we're so much more. I'm fortunate to work for a company with great people who appreciate what I do... the fun stuff! It's awesome to do something I enjoy but also something I believe in. // Thanks @chapmances for the M.A.!

I gotta be honest with y'all, one of the single greatest parts about Chapman is that in its backyard is the most magical place on Earth, @disneyland !!! Some of my most fond memories in the past four years were spent devouring churros, riding space mountain, and being moved to tears at the magic that is Disneyland. I think it is so cool that I can associate a place that I've always found incredible with my college experience. I'm very lucky that I can go there and be reminded that it's kind of fun to do the impossible, whether at Disney or in my own life. Happy Friday! ❤️
