WORDS OF A RECENT GRADUATE: Jen Guerrero '15 "It is with utmost sincerity that I say that without your generous contributions to Chapman University, I would not be where I am today. As a first-generation college student, there was only so much guidance that my family could offer me. The professors that I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by, however, have opened up numerous opportunities that I never could have imagined. Sitting down with multiple professors who have helped me construct my résumé, search for internships and have even been references for me, is one of the many reasons I am so thankful to have had the chance to study at such a phenomenal university. Thank you for making that possible for me and for so many other students across campus." Jen Guerrero '15 Majors: Business administration, emphasis in marketing, minor in English Hometown: Los Angeles, CA These words of appreciation were volunteered by Jen Guerrero. If you are interested in supporting students like Jen while also increasing your retirement income, consider a charitable gift annuity. To learn more, contact David B. Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Diane Rippe, a member of the local community and parent of a Chapman alumna, and her book club to the Elliott Alumni House. Here's what Diane had to say: "Most of the time we meet in members' homes, but we also like to stage an 'event' occasionally, to go along with the book we are reading. Since we had selected "Girl Waits With Gun" by Amy Stewart for this month (being Women in History Month), I was motivated to ask you at Elliott Alumni House to host our gathering. The book is set in 1914, and is the fictionalized account of very real people and events. Discussing these characters and setting in the perfect venue of your historical home brought the period to life for us. Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful hospitality. Our group truly appreciated the warm welcome that you extended to us, and we are very grateful that Chapman and the Alumni House are so willing to share events and host some community activities. We are incredibly fortunate to have this quality university in our midst!"

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program's ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent Accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.

A COMBINED THANK YOU Grateful Faculty: Mark Maier, Ph.D. "Without the support of donors like Christine and Bradley Comp, there is no way the Leadership Studies (LEAD) Program could serve as many students as we do, and with as much personalized attention and care as we do! People like you help us fulfill the Chapman mission and vision to provide a personalized education that is truly distinctive and prepares our students to be global citizens dedicated to creating a more just and more caring world. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. You help us make a difference to our students, who in turn make a difference to our world." The week I came back from New Zealand I competed for Miss City of Orange & can you guess what happened?! Yup. This year as I serve as an official ambassador to the city I will be promoting my platform "A Life Without Limits: encouraging today's youth to set goals and dream big" & raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The Miss America Organization seeks to empower women & give them scholarships to further their education. The skills & experience I have gained from competing in this program have opened up many doors for me & helped contribute to my success. I am forever grateful to each & every volunteer & sponsor that gives generously to make this experience a reality for me. It truly has changed my life! The next step? Miss California! Words of a Student: María Belén Meza '16 "Thank you so much! I am a senior chemistry major from Ecuador and there is absolutely no way I would have completed my degree here in the U.S. if it wasn’t for your help. Coming to America to pursue a degree was not easy at all. I’ve faced so many obstacles and challenges, but I cannot deny I’ve enjoyed the ride. It has been exciting, nerve-wracking and stressful, but so much fun! Currently, I’ve decided to use my knowledge to help people and make a contribution to science. I will be following a career as a clinical nutrition researcher and when the time officially comes, I will be excited to let the world know! As of now, I figured I would like to share my aspirations with you since you have contributed in making my dreams possible."
