Chapman University College of Performing Arts

Every Wednesday evening around sunset, a public flag-lowering ceremony takes place at Plaza Park in Old Towne Orange thanks to the work of Orange Plaza Patriots, a group of volunteer veterans. The ceremony concludes with the playing of "Taps," which, for the past four years, has been performed nearly every time by Chapman University music senior Matthew LaBelle (B.M. Instrumental Performance '17). We invite you to come out at 6pm tonight for what may be one of Matthew's final performances and join us in honoring our country's flag and all those who have sacrificed to protect everything it represents. There will be a special proclamation by the OPP to honor Matthew and his support over the years.

There's something so unbelievably rewarding about creating. It's this privilege to share your point of view, artistry and sense of collaboration with the world. Because of Dodge College, I've been a crew mate and a captain of my own ship. The endless sets I've worked on not only give me a portrayal of industry I'm about to enter, but a group of collaborators and friends I wouldn't trade for anything! There's no other media program that can compare to the network that we have here at Chapman! Here's a brief list of my friends/closest collaborators: @astahran, @ericjamesward, @twinklefinkel, @kev.wolf, @ian.wooster, @mcgra116 , @goostey, @kaylamichel16, @sarahpaciocco, @thebrettmelnick, @idmaccc, @noahjmayer Go see their work and profiles! - Gregory Bordelon

Chapman Business Report
June 24, 2015
Chapman's econ gurus updated their 37th Annual Economic Forecast on Wednesday at the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa. By almost any measure it was a sanguine re-assessment. Here are the key insights--national and regional: * US GDP 2015 +2.5%; 2016 +2.9% (1Q 2015 will be revised into the black) * Fed imminent rate hikes "will not crimp bull market." History shows 10 in 12 years post rate-hikes, a higher S&P 500 * Moderate-to-strong consumer spending and business investment; exports and European economies the notable weak spots * OC Job growth in 2015 will hover at a near-term best +3% led by the business and professional services and trade sectors. CA Job growth also to outpace the nation at about +2.5% * OC median home values, thanks largely to low inventory, to rise about 5.8%--affordability becoming increasingly worrisome Spoke to attendees from banking to real-estate to the public sector. All see conditions "in their worlds" steady if not improving.

Their love story according to Sheri: “Zech and I met briefly in Fall of 2007, but our story actually begins in Fall of 2008. Five years later, Zech proposed to me at Chapman University and, in December 2014, we celebrated our marriage with our family and closest friends from college.” Alumni in their wedding party included: Jenna Jones (Pinkham) '10, Stephenette Graham '11, Christine Alexopoulos '10, Joe Bjorndal '10, Taylor (Bubba) Gramkow '10 and Brandon Arredondo '09.

If you're coming to the second show tonight of "Intimate Apparel," you're in for a treat -- stick around after the curtain falls for a special post-show talk with the cast and creative team (director, designers, dramaturgs). The panel will focus on the production (performances, direction, design) and will exlopre the play's major themes, such as Nottage's meditations on the historic black struggle for survival, belonging, and emotional connection in the industrial era of 1905 in which the play is set, and how these themes continue to resonate today. Tickets available online and at the door. chapman.edu/tickets PC: Dale Dudeck [Pictured: Esther (left, Chelsea Davis '17) and Mrs. Van Buren (Rachel Gallagher '19)]

Chapman MBA

“My internship, this summer, with NGroup Performance Partners gave me insight into the labor consulting industry as well as the relationship between supply chain activities and labor costs. In cooperation with my supervisor, I created and implemented a software solution for tracking employee productivity, which resulted in significant cost savings for the customer. Additionally, I trained a new employee to operate the software, enabling her to carry out the day-to-day processing of orders. I will leverage the project management skills I learned from nGroup as I pursue my career goal of becoming an operations manager in the chemical industry."
