“My summer internship with an office broker enhanced my insight into the real estate world and how to build your own business. Through my experience I learned how to set your own work hours, build your client book and to work with national as well as international clients. During the three months I walked over 300 buildings in Orange County, researched over 500 companies as potential contacts and shadowed brokers in office, industrial and retail space on both landlord and tenant sides. Real Estate and Entrepreneurship are my desired industry and my summer internship provided some great experiences and solidified my post graduation plans.” Casey Shen, MBA '15, Intern at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in their Newport Beach, CA office. #ChapmanMBA #SummerInternship #RealEstate #TakeBoldSteps #MBAintern

“On Monday, August 29th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in the greater New Orleans area…a category 3 hurricane, Katrina brought 120mph winds, 8-10 inches of rain and a recorded tide increase of over 14 feet… with over 50 levee failures and numerous levee breaches causing severe flooding in 80% of the city.”- Excerpt from Rebuilding Together New Orleans Since 2008, Chapman’s annual LEAD 485: Leadership through the Eye of the Storm Interterm service-learning travel course has engaged students in New Orleans’ rebuilding efforts and in examining one of the worst natural and human disasters in United States history. Over the past 8 years, 73 students and faculty have contributed over 1,950 hours of service to support the rebuilding of 12 homes and one community art museum. Their service hours have been valued at $44,323. The photos displayed show groups of students from all 8 trips volunteering in, learning about, and experiencing New Orleans.

Artist Ken Price was famous for his imaginative biomorphic clay scultures, as well as his paintings and drawings. His art often brought together elements of craft and fine art, a practice that has roots in the Bauhaus school. This was especially true in his series of ceramic mugs. He was a man who truly loved creating art, and was once quoted in a news article stating "“For real pleasure, I’d like to draw all day and listen to jazz. My happiest day is when I have no business, visitors or phone and can draw” Ken Price "Untitled," 1970 Lithograph, 22 x 18 in. "My two and a half months working as a volunteer/intern in India were motivated by the huge influence Indian culture has on international business. I wanted to immerse myself in the culture, learning about the work of an NGO, and have a philanthropic focus away from a traditional office setting. My work focused on teaching sociology, tourism management and giving computer classes. I also established a six-months curriculum, spanning all areas of education that a young Indian adult should be familiar with. It was an impressive time and in combination with my previous international experiences from six months in China as well as several other places, I am convinced it prepared me for challenging jobs in the future - hopefully in Asia." Chapman University - Marriage & Family Therapy Program
September 13, 2016
Meet Christina Mathieson (Class of 2017) and hear about her experience in the MFT Program at Chapman University . . . "My time in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program has been more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined. I have grown academically and professionally due to the programs high academic standards and encouragement for self growth. The constant support from the faculty provided me the courage to take advantage of the numerous opportunities and experiences offered and allowed me to continue to grow as a student and as a therapist. This has helped strengthen my ability to connect with others, providing me with the tools to help others during difficult times. This journey has helped solidify my passion and desire to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I thank the program and my professors for guiding me through this wonderful experience."
